School Rules and Expectations
1. School begins at 8:30 am and ends at 12:15 pm for Pre-K & Kindergarten, and ends at 3:30 pm for 1st through 12th grades, Monday through Thursday. Parents must be here promptly at 12:15pm or 3:30 pm, accordingly, to pick your students up, so I can attend to other responsibilities. Thank you. (After school programs or daycare are not available.)
2. Each morning your child will enter the school and begin his or her morning activity, which consists of manipulatives, journaling, board work, etc. Your child’s grade level will determine his or her activity and lessons.
3. Parents are responsible for ensuring their children have a change of clothes, a snack and a lunch, each day. School lunches are not available. All students will need a lunch sent with them to school, school lunches are not available. However, the students can use the microwave to warm up food. Make sure to send fruits already peeled and cut, thank you.
4. The students will leave every day with a folder containing their projects, assignments, notes, behavior report, etc. Notes and behavior cards will need to be signed and sent back to school the next school day. Agendas will also need to be signed, for third grade to 12th grade. This informs me that you received the information.
A behavior report is sent home every day, for each child, when they are a new student. Once the student becomes acclimated to the structure of the school day and settles into the new school environment, the behavior report will no longer be sent home. The only time a behavior report will be seen, after that, is when there are behavior issues or struggles educationally.
5. Parent and Teacher conferences will take place twice a year, once in February and the second one in June. A note will be sent home to inform you of the available times. You will choose the time that works best for you, then sign it and send it to school. This letter will be sent to you two weeks before the conference, so make sure you send it back as soon as possible to ensure you get the time that works best for you. All conferences must be attended and without the students present. Your child will have a one-on-one conference with me before the parent-teacher conference.
6. If parents need to talk to me about any concerns, please call or set an appointment. Parents cannot come in during school hours because it is a disruption to the other students, and it takes my time away from the students. After school hours can be quite busy for me, so I would love to give you my attention and time, but it will need to be scheduled.
7. Students are to be at school every day, unless they are sick, if there is a snow day, or a family emergency. We do not want your child to miss out on valuable instruction time or to have double the assignments when they return, so make sure that the time missed is necessary. There will be make-up work when they are absent.
Attendance will be recorded every day. Students have a total of 14 days a year that they can miss without it affecting their enrollment for the following year. If your child misses more than 14 days, without it being a medical or family emergency, they may not be able to re-enroll the following year. Every four tardies equals an absence. By law a student is allowed to miss nine days of school and still be able to complete their grade successfully. However, with this being a private school, that rule does not pertain to us, so I set the days that I believe are viable for our educational program.
If your child/ren need to miss multiple days in a row due to vacation time or illnesses, it is your responsibility, as the parent, to contact me for your child’s schoolwork. I will put together daily lessons, packets, and a list of resources for your child/ren to do while away from school. These lessons will need to be turned in the day they return to school
8. Children in kindergarten will receive a stamp on their hand, each day, if they were on their best behavior. This is a great conversation starter when you pick your child up each day and keeps you up to date with his or her schooling each day.
9. We are not a Christian based program; I believe that Biblical information should be taught from home and church.
10. The students are taught through 10 to 15-minute lectures, which are reinforced with manipulatives and some book work. I believe the students learn best when the curriculum is multifaceted.
11. Homework is never sent home. All schoolwork is completed with me. Completed assignments are sent home every Monday, along with a newsletter.
12. Fighting, bullying, swearing or inappropriate talk of any sort will not be tolerated.
13. The kids need to come to school in modest attire. Shorts or leggings must be worn under dresses. For both male and female students, belts must be worn to avoid exposure of undergarments and the backside.
14. Medications need to be administered at home. If your child needs medication in the middle of the day, I will need written consent and waiver signed and notarized with instructions to administer the medication.
These rules are set in place to ensure that each student receives an education without distractions and to show respect for their classmates. Every parent raises their family differently, therefore, we as a community need show respect to ourselves and to others by respecting one another’s space and boundaries.
It will be a joy to watch each of the children progress into mature young men and women and gain a new understanding of the world around them. We are all a team, and I am looking forward to working with each of you and your children. Thank you, for entrusting me with your children and giving me the opportunity to teach them skills that will help them communicate and interact with a world that is constantly changing and improving.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kendra Hall
I, as the parent, have read and agree with these school rules and expectations and will follow them to the best of my ability, I understand that if I fail to follow them that it could affect my child’s enrollment for the following year. (If you do not agree with any of these rules, please do not sign right away, take some time to think about whether this educational program is the right fit for your family.)
